{"id":3919,"date":"2016-04-25T00:38:33","date_gmt":"2016-04-25T06:38:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jdmchicago.com\/wp\/?p=3919"},"modified":"2016-04-25T11:13:33","modified_gmt":"2016-04-25T17:13:33","slug":"wekfest-chicago-2016-part-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jdmchicago.com\/wp\/wp-login.php\/2016\/04\/wekfest-chicago-2016-part-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Wekfest Chicago 2016- Part 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After a 5 year absence, Wekfest came back to Chicago in an impressive fashion. \u00a0Speaking to one of the organizers, Ken admitted that Chicago was the first shows he conducted outside of Northern California. \u00a0By Wekfest&#8217;s standards, the 2011 event was probably one of the <em>wekest<\/em> in terms of attendance and participation. Since then, Wekfest has become\u00a0a tour de force and has built a solid following throughout the US and \u00a0Japan. \u00a0Yesterday&#8217;s show at the Donald E Stephens Convention Center reflected the growth of Wekfest and it&#8217;s reputation.<\/p>\n<p>We arrived at the venue around 645 am for vendor check-in and it took me a moment to take in the sheer size of the show.\u00a0Originally, Wekfest booked one of the smaller convention halls not\u00a0knowing what to expect. \u00a0Within a few weeks of advertising,\u00a0Wekfest realized that not only was this show going to be big- \u00a0but possibly one of the better tours in terms of car entrants and spectators.<\/p>\n<p>The show had a great variety of cars not only from Chicago, but other regions of the US. \u00a0Iowa, Florida, New York, North Carolina, Texas, and even Canada came through. \u00a0If you missed this event, you really missed out on one of the more unique and best organized indoor shows we have had in awhile. \u00a0The crowds were friendly and vibes were excellent throughout.<\/p>\n<p>Although it&#8217;s pretty late this evening, but I wanted to post up some quick shots for you to enjoy. \u00a0Note, these are all in random order&#8230; \u00a0 \u00a0We&#8217;ll have another few sets of pics over the next few days&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em>-jdmchicago<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Wekfest Chicago 2016\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/synth19\/26358055910\/in\/dateposted\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1632\/26358055910_eca803820c_b.jpg\" alt=\"Wekfest Chicago 2016\" width=\"1024\" height=\"591\" \/><\/a>Nawshin Basher&#8217;s amazing Voltex Evo.
