Since winter has been slow, here is a re-edit of a Toyota Starlet we featured about 5 years ago. Click on the image for a 1920 x 1024 wallpaper.

If you’re a follower of JDM Chicago, you know that 99% of our content is written/photographed by ourselves. We take pride in providing our own original content, rather then re-hashing something you have already seen online. However, every once in awhile we come across something on the web that we want to share. Today is one such example. We came across these press photos from Work Wheels of the Rocky Auto Hakosuka. Although these were shot in 2012, I have no idea why I have not seen these before. As you may or may not know, Rocky Auto is a car builder/restorer out of Japan. Their approach is to take vintage cars and “modernize them.” Watanabe-san, the president of Rocky Auto has a philosophy to take an old car and “improve it” in a sense. With that said, most of the cars they build are fitted with more reliable and powerful modern engines. Purists may disagree on their methods, but there is no denying the passion and quality Rocky Auto puts into their restorations. Rather then going into too much detail about this car, you can read more about it on Speedhunters by clicking here. HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE! Introducing a couple new products available on our store. This year has been very busy for me with regards to print media work. I’m very humbled in particular that I was able to land two cover shots/features in Modified Magazine. Below are some bonus shots of Mike’s Evo and Nick’s Sti dual cover feature. The photoshoot was probably one of the longest and exhausting days I’ve ever experienced as a photographer, but it was really worth it to see my two friends get recognized for their awesome cars. Special thanks to Jeremy Cliff for being my assistant that day. Although the full article is now available online on Modified’s website, the pics are very low resolution. Now that the issue has come and gone, I decided to post up some bonus high res shots. Please excuse some of the awkward crops as I tried to adjust the sizing of vertical photos to fit the blog’s format. Oh, and let’s not forget Jeff’s NSX from August. Bonus pics of that feature is available here.
I haven’t posted this before, but I wanted to show you guys the before and after collaboration with Jay from JDMEGO. I sent him an image of Christine’s 280z I shot, and Jay whipped up this illustration in a matter of days. Dude is a beast, and I think it’s safe to say he likes it WIDE. The design was eventually used for a shirt and hoodie. You can see the final product by checking out our store. |
