Sorry for the delay in getting out part 4, but we are back and only one more set to go after this! Once again, Thanks to Greg Szoda for the photos. Happy Friday!

GLK_0019-2

Allen (aka Supraforums.com #1 hated car) surprised us again with another crazy wrap on his Itasha styled Supra.  I don’t know how to describe the actual finish, but it needs to be seen in person to be truly appreciated. I’m sure Allen lost track at the number of people who stopped by just to touch it. haha

GLK_0083

Here is Sergey’s other car- an LS powered FD. Looks like he has several different wheels to choose from. I want to see him roll in and out with different wheels at the next event.

GLK_0025

I think this means we need to release some JDM Chicago Tanks!

GLK_0027

Honda Civic Wagovan have been getting increasingly popular over the last several years.

GLK_0028

A decent amount of cars from Wisconsin made the trip down for Slammed Society.

GLK_0029-2

Most of the product that Fatlace brought down to the show was sold out by the midway point of the event.

GLK_0030

It was good seeing some Ruckus’ at SS.  This particular bike is bike was built by Mike Lotz  aka “Ruck Cartel.”  Sounds like a group you don’t want to mess with.

GLK_0032

David’s bagged/SSR fitted GS from Auto Style Aficionado

GLK_0035

Simple but clean. Diggin these Enkei Enkei NT03 on this STI.

GLK_0036

Speaking of STI’s, here is another one with the trendy Tiffany blue color wheels.

GLK_0037

E46 M3, which looks like in Titanium Silver metallic.

GLK_0037-2

This is Michael Henry’s “controversial” bagged Evo on Work Meister’s. I don’t care what they say, it looks great to me.

GLK_0042

I was impressed that this mini already had a slammed society license plate frame installed. I guess you need to occupy your time somehow during a 6 hour show.

GLK_0047

Jon Domingo thinking about his next meal to instagram, with Cuong Do eagerly anticipating the next award.

GLK_0048

Chicago Blackhawks gear was plentiful at the event.

GLK_0049

One of our Ruckus winners from the show. All the winners received a nice acrylic trophy and sticker pack. Not bad!

GLK_0052

Having a “slammed” category was mandatory at this event. I think there was some general controversy over how the winners were picked. It was based mostly on an overall lookn regardless if the car was static or bagged.

GLK_0055-2

Vape City was there to support the show with an S2000.

GLK_0061

Honda/Acura class winners posing for a group shot.

GLK_0062-2

Kamil’s super aggressive e46 we featured last year.

GLK_0063-2

Tons of Euro’s at the show such as this bagged Golf  R with a full metal wide body on RPF1’s.  Next year I think we may have to make separate euro classes. Stay tuned for one last part before we close up Slammed Society coverage!

In part 3, we have more photos provided by our official photog Greg Szoda (Glock Photo). Still a ton of shots to go through, so enjoy these for now!

GLK_0004

I met Mike Grozdanovic at Slammed Society and was really impressed with his Avant.  Air lift bags/struts run by accuair e-level with dual 480 compressors, aluminum 5 gallon tank, and a custom hardline setup. If I ever bag my car, I think this is the guy I’m going to talk to.

GLK_0004-2

Speaking of bagged… here is one of the first BRZ’s I’ve seen on air suspension at the Touge Factory booth. The white faced Rotiforms look nice on the factory Satin White Pearl.

GLK_0032-2

JT’s WRX Blue Pearl Impreza @ the Source Booth.  I shot this car a few years ago with some less aggressive TE37’s. It definitey look much better with the concave face TE37 SL’s.

GLK_0005

Couple of our security guys from the show. You can always trust a guy with a handlebar mustache.

GLK_0005-2

Leo Garcia from Serious Innovations drove from NYC to attend the show with the “Becky Accord.” He won first place in the VIP class with this very aggressive VIP Modular setup ( VX210 powder coated Cognac Copper).

TF-Works shop FR-S featuring full Version Select V1 carbon aero, Stance Super Sport Coilovers, Stance LCAs, Tomei 2-way. Seen here in grip mode with some 245/40/17 RS3s on 17×9 SBC RPF1s

GLK_0013

The Midwest Slideways RC drifting guys put on a good show.  Click here for this really dope video they put together.

GLK_0025-2

A staple at most of the local shows is Albert’s r33 GTR.

GLK_0054-2

Jon Domingo’s Ruckus was probably one of the best at the show.  Since he was a judge,  Jon took himself out of competition so there would be no conflict of interest.   We didn’t want a scenario such as this- “So John, who won best Ruckus?”   “Well after careful consideration, I decided that I was the winner.”

GLK_0078

Seems like the showroom was loaded with bagged cars. Here is Mike Henry’s Evo. I will love any car with a set of Work Meisters.

GLK_0120

Unfortunately Erik’s car wasn’t ready for Slammed Society. His girl is probably asking how much longer they have to stay. haha

GLK_0122

Nice setup here with this  guys scoot-o-cooler. So much confidence, he’s not even afraid  of offering some fine refreshments to a seemingly “taken” lady.

GLK_4611

This is one of our new hats that should be posted in our online store within the next few weeks. #teamswag

GLK_4626

Pat was one of our awesome volunteers. As long as our events aren’t scheduled around an EDM festival, we can always count on him.

GLK_4657

Phalkun and Morris of Equilibrium USG. You really want to pick up one of their really cool modular bags and customizable skins. Check out their website by clicking here.

GLK_0057-2

Jason’s Leon Hardiritt Ordens looking nice.

GLK_0058-2

Full shot of the car, bagging the car was a great decision.

GLK_4650

Jason on the left doing something weird… Hipster Dan in the middle… and Pat from Wagon Lifestyle taking a quick nap on the job. Part 4 tomorrow…

Slammed Society Coverage (Part 2 of 5)

In part 2 of our Slammed Society coverage, we bring you this great video by Jay Phommavongsa. Be sure to check out his entire collection on Vimeo when you get a chance. Part 3 will be out tomorrow with more photos of the event.

Slammed Society Coverage (Part 1 of 5)

Well, it’s been almost two weeks since Slammed Society Chicago, but the coverage keeps on coming.  There are a ton of photos and video’s posted on the forums, so be sure to check that out by clicking here. Before I post up some pics, let me first tell you about how this entire event came about.

Around May of last year I purchased a ’72 Hakosuka Skyline (which is almost done) and dropped Mark Arcanel of Fatlace a quick email to pick his brain on wheel offsets. Mark took a very aggressive approach with his own Hako build, so of course he was the perfect person to bounce off ideas of. Mark was very gracious to share some information with me, and brought up the idea of co-hosting an event in Chicago. Things came up and I don’t think I followed up with Mark, so nothing really materialized after that.

Fast forward to March of this year. My friend Rj mentioned that Mark was interested in having a show in Chicago and asked if I could hit him up. Rj had no idea this came up a year before, but this rehashed my interest. I told Rj and some other good friends I’ll bring it up again with Mark and we’ll see what happens.  I called up Mark and he was very excited to do a show in Chicago. We haven’t had a “national” type event in Chicago since Wekfest, so everyone was stoked about this. Within a week, our good friends and partners at Arlington Toyota & Scion agreed to host the show and we were good to go!

On June 30th, Slammed Society opened up it’s doors to Chicago. I literally had no idea what to expect, but the event turned out to be ridiculously awesome. We sold out on car registrations and had over 2,000 spectators attend. The weather turned out to be fantastic and everything went fairly smooth.  Thanks everyone for the support and the tremendous help from all the volunteers! I was busy all day just managing the event, so I asked my friend Greg Szoda (Glock Photo) if he could be our official photog. Greg always delivers great event coverage so I knew he was the man for the job. Be sure to check out his facebook if you get a chance by clicking here.  So let’s go ahead and share some event coverage. I have a ton of shots from Greg, so we’ll do this feature in multiple parts.

GLK_0054

An overhead shot of the showroom are of the dealership during the awards ceremony. We used the showroom as the vendor area.  This turned out better then expected because all spectators needed to enter through the showroom in order to get into the show. I think the vendors really appreciated this arrangement because there was a ton of foot traffic in this area all day.

GLK_0111

Sergey from you guessed it, “Sergey’s House of Wheels” is constantly changing up his look on his MR2. Here are a set of custom built 3pc BBS LM’s in  17×9.5 -9 and 18×11 +7 on a set of really beefy tires.

GLK_4686

Christine’s pristine S30 on Work CR01’s. Her 280z was definitely one of the nicest builds at the show and took first place in the vintage category.

GLK_0110

World Famous Darth Jigga unmasked.

GLK_0053-2

Tan’s s4 on Work Meisters keeping company with Seen it! M3 on Meisters as well.

GLK_0051

Nick from Seen it! pretty stoked about photo bombing everyone who came up to take a photo.

GLK_0019

Gene’s 370z slammed on an authentic Amuse kit. I thought this Z34 was perfect when I shot it a few years ago, but Gene tends to keep on re-inventing himself to keep his look fresh.

GLK_0103

Risky Devil BRZ. Simple, yet executed properly.  AJ, I think you owe us $25. hahaGLK_0048-2

Some of the ruckus guys during roll-in.

GLK_0045

Chris’ GTR somehow sandwiched in a sea of Hondas.

GLK_4664

GLK_4666

This was a fairly clean G35 on Rays Lexion wheels that I haven’t seen before. I talked to the owner briefly and sounded as if the build was done in record time. He still has a few more things on his plate, but good progress thus far.

GLK_0085

Angela’s highly coveted red/white S2k on an aggressive set of Work VSXX’s.

GLK_0088

GLK_0089

Xiong’s RE Amemiya RX7 was one of my favorite’s from the show. Considering he won best track car, the judges also agreed with my assessment. Be on the look out for a feature of his FC soon.

GLK_0114

Always good to see female enthusiasts at a show.  Part 2 coming on Sunday evening. Have a good weekend everyone!

The Perfect NSX

I was privileged to shoot Jeff’s NSX again for the August 2013 issue of Modified Magazine. When I first shot this car last year, his feature literally blew up. To date, probably one of the most shared/liked/and cross-posted feature I’ve ever done.  It just goes to show that people appreciate quality car builds. As a fellow NSX owner, I can honestly say Jeff’s NSX is probably in the top 5 globally- the attention to detail and craftsmanship is simply unsurpassed.  I’m really not going to go into the details of the car, but instead I’ll urge you to pick up an issue of Modified Magazine to read his story. Bias aside, it’s a really well written article!  Anyways, here are a few bonus shots I thought I would share since the issue is now out and these were not included in the issue.  Click here to see the cover posted on Modifed Magazine’s facebook page, and don’t forget to support print!
