Event Coverage- Importfest Toronto (Part 3 of 3)

Just a few more shots for part 3.  In hindsight,  I should have just threw these in part 2-  All good,  because I have a feeling that our Wekeast coverage is going to be pretty intense over the next several days!

Luckily there were some food trucks outside of the convention center.  I highly recommend the spicy sausage!

After a quick bite,  I came back inside to shoot some more.  Here is a Voltex widebody Cyber Evo by Advance Powerhouse.  Originally an Evo IX MR,  its been converted to full time track whore.

Rear shot of the rear carbon fiber diffuser,  Voltex wing,  and some nice front/rear concave TE37’s.

Civic CX hatch on CCW Classics.

B20 swap + shaved/tucked engine bay.

Acura TL on Work VSXX Wheels (before Acura decided to go with the ugly look).

Subaru WRX STI hatch on Advan RG-D Wheels.  Based on the RG lineup,  the only difference is that these wheels have a lip.

One of the few VW’s at the show….

’89 Prelude with a 90’s aero vibe.  Kinda reminds me of Jason Kiang’s e60 kit.  hmmmmm

I spoke to soon… here’s a VW Jetta on BBS CH’s.

cute.

Party in the back,  literally.

Wrapping up coverage with this random anime person!

We’re gonna take a break from our Importfest coverage until tomorrow,  but in the meantime- here is a teaser of the Wekeast Show!  Pics from Wekfest probably won’t get get done until this weekend,  so enjoy this cool video by Halcyon Photo in the interim.  Thanks for the JDM Chicago love!

Event Coverage- Importfest Toronto (Part 2 of 3)

Time for part 2…..

Here is Aidan’s clean VIP-inspired IS300 from Liberty VIP Car Club.  The owner seemed really passionate about his car and took the time to show and describe some nice details amidst the blaring house music. I’m diggin those limited edition centercaps on the Leon Hardiritt Bugel wheels.

Another S2k….guess what wheels? haha

Really clean e30. Guessing an M motor swap on a 325.  Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

Crazy looking Honda Accord on bags.  Like it or not,  a pretty quality build if you’re into this style.

Si on CCW wheels.

Clean Acura RSX.

G37 Sedan on Avant Garde wheels.

Molded CLS style trunk on this G37 with integrated rear view camera.

Crazy fitted S2k on Meisters.

Dat rear fitment.

Pretty cool Honda Fit in some sort of chameleon-like vinyl wrap.

Another shot of the Fit with the blended wrap scheme.

Endless brakes tucked nicely under a set of SSR Type C’s.  Lots of quality here.

One of my favorite cars from the show.  The sti sedan is too often neglected compared to it’s sporty-hatch brother.

Great overall package.  I’m a sucker for side splitters and Professors.

Stretch and poke? But what’s that in the background?

Mr2 on work emotions XD9’s.  Wish the sideskirts were even with the front lip.

Poor lonely r33.

Chicago’s IND repped on this e90 M3 on ADV.1 wheels.

The Canadian’s love their big wings.  I approve.  Nismo kitted 350z on SSR Type F’s.

Wish wheels were maybe a few sizes smaller and better fitment up front.  Other then that,  this s30 is as clean as it gets.

Period correct L series motor with triple carbs and plenty of bling.

I was VERY tempted to straighten out that steering wheel.

Massive lip on the Work VS-XX’s.

Speaking of Z’s….. Really clean Z31.  For sale if anyone is interested.

Another fav from the show.

It’s not you… there were quite a few S2000’s at Import Fest.  Part 3 probably on Friday!

Event Coverage- Importfest Toronto (Part 1 of 3)

What a busy weekend!  A large group hit up WekEast in NJ while I headed up to our neighbors up north to witness what was described as Canada’s “Biggest and Baddest” car show.  Maybe my expectations were over the top,  but the show was of a decent size.  For reference,  I would say it was about 2/3rd’s the size of last years WeakFest Chicago or maybe 1/2 the size of this years Another Level Car Show.  Nonetheless,  there was some great looking cars present and the crowds were huge!  I’ll break this set into 2 parts over the next few days. Lighting was really weird at this show,  but I cranked up my 5d MK III to IS01000-1600 and shot away.  Nothing fancy,  and just batch edited to give you guys some quick and dirty pics.

Importfest took place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.  It was a really nice location in the heart of downtown.  The show took place in the north hall while in the South hall…….

Fan Expo was taking place.  There were a ton of pretty cool costumes and what not mixed with the hardcore “car guys.”
You couldn’t help but stare at all the creative outfits.  Here’s an actual Gundam Mecha costume someone obviously put a ton
of hours into.  It looked much better in person!

Entering the hall,  this was one of the first cars I saw.  A pretty wild “bowling ball”  front paint scheme on this Hyundai Genesis.  Wheels are “Stance Wheels.”  I guess it was in due time before a wheel company jumped on the “stance”  moniker.

There were a plethora of Honda S2000’s at this show.  This was probably one of at least 10 sets of TE37’s I saw.  Typical front
Honda offsets with some contrasting more aggressive concave rears.

A very nice r32 GTR.  Don’t know for sure,  but looks like a Bayside Blue paintjob.

All sorts of legit parts on the r32 including this Tomei EXPREME Ti exhaust which sheds a few lbs from the OEM system.

Another GTR,  this time an r33 on VOLK RE30 wheels.   There were quite a few R32 and R33 GTR’s present due to Canada’s much more loose importation laws.

Vossen Wheels were present with their typical baller status Benzos.

Slammed and rat rod inspired!

Bag setup!

Widebody RX7 FD on Volk CE28’s.

“”Oyagi’s” ’92 NSX he sold earlier this summer.  It was cool finally seeing this thing in person.  I didn’t get a chance to meet the new owner,  but glad it looks as aggressive as I remember.  Currently on Advan RS wheels with TEIN flex coils.

One cool thing I noticed here is the Team Top End sticker.  After Oyagi got the approval from Top End Japan,  he sent me a MASSIVE Top End sticker.   I had a few smaller versions made for myself and sent him the sticker you see here.  In case you are wondering,  this is a pretty rare Gruppe M Supercharger.

A closer look……

Really clean Acura CSX on Advan RGII wheels and an Ings +1 kit (not sure if authentic or not).

Voltex wings sets it off nicely.

Race inspired Civic in the nextmod group on Volk CE28’s.  Really feeling this scheme with the carbon fiber accents.

And a rear shot of a pretty aggressive rear diffuser.

Clean Lexus IS on SSR MS1’s.

Amuse widebody on the S2000 with CE28’s. It has a very “classic” 2005 look.

Yeah,  if you’re looking for a new bikini…  come to Importfest!

I think most people know we try to operate a classy operation here at JDMC,  so glad to post a classy looking model supporting the Mequiar’s booth.

Jay,  this one’s for you!  Scion FR-S on Gram Lights.  Fitment was on point here.

Wrapping up today’s coverage with a Nismo-outfitted 350z on guess what wheels?  Part II tomorrow!

“FLAWLESS”- Bob’s 1991 Berlina Black NSX

As an NSX owner,  I always relish the chance to meet other NSX enthusiasts throughout the country.  Bob out of Denver,  Colorado was a fan of my work and hired me to shoot his Berlina Black NSX.  This was truly an honor because there are other photographers locally he could have easily hired so I didn’t take this gig for granted.  Before I came out there I was a tad nervous because the car was black (a photographer’s nightmare);  and secondly,  there was this self-inflicted pressure to deliver a good product-  Let’s face it,  there wasn’t going to be a “re-do”  in case the pics sucked!  I’m pretty stoked about this set and hope you guys also enjoy it.  Be sure to click on each image for a higher resolution.

I really didn’t want to release this set until next week,  but I know next week is gonna be pretty busy so I thought I should post these up now.  Above is a photo I posted on our facebook page.  Thanks to Honda Tuning Magazine for sharing this shot.  I also gotta thank a few homies for some CC on this photo during my editing process (Rubin,  Jeremy,  Matt,  and Pepper).

It’s hard to believe that this car is a 1991.  Thanks to a new paint job and Bob’s expert detailing,  this car literally looks like it came off of a showroom.

We were able to knock out a few rollers on the way to Red Rocks Park in Jefferson County,  Colorado.  I always wonder what people are thinking when they see my head sticking out of a window with a huge camera and lens.  haha

Red Rocks proved to be a legit location.   If I lived in Denver,  I would be shooting here everyday!

I haven’t seen a set of Volk GTF’s in a long time.  I don’t think they sold very well and I attribute this to the goofy stripe on each spoke.  LUCKILY,  Bob decided to order this set directly from Rays without the stripe.   I really like this look and a very similar feel to CE28’s.   Also pictured here are the optional GT Series center caps.  You cannot beat the classic look of silver wheels on a black car.

Nice subtle aero combination giving this ’91 an updated look-  Stacy Sideskirts,  Shine front lip,  and 2002 rear valance.

Not that noticeable in this photo,  but a nice comptech exhaust gives this NSX a throaty note as Bob tears it up on his weekend canyon runs.

Thanks to an almost invisible clear bra,  good luck finding any paint chips!

Thank you Denver for this beautiful backdrop!

I didn’t get Bob’s offsets just yet,  but he’s running 18×8.5 in front and 19×9.5 in the rear.  But this is a Honda so assume the offsets will be in the 30+ range!

Subtle Honda badges throughout the car give homage to its origin….

Some detail shots of some of the more recognizable aspects of the NSX.   That’s it for now,  if you want any of these shots in wallpaper sizes.. come back in a few weeks for some monster wallpapers!  Click below or on each photo above for a higher res image.
